Sophie-Magdalena Reuter (English)
German soprano, Sophie-Magdalena Reuter was born and raised in Hamburg. In the current season Ms. Reuter sings Pamina in “Die Zauberflöte” at Theater Hof in Upper Franconia.
In 2021/2022, she sang Demoiselle Franziska Cagliari in the operetta "Wiener Blut" by J. Strauss at the Landestheater Coburg.
In 2019/2020 she was an ensemble member of the Theater Hof in Upper Franconia, where she sang soprano roles including Euridice in “Orfeo ed Euridice” by Gluck, Princess Fedora Palinska in "Die Zirkusprinzessin" by Kálmán, and Atala in “Vent du Soir / Häutling Abendwind” by Offenbach.
Ms. Reuter gained recognition in 2017 when she reached the semi-finals of the Bertelsmann Foundation’s "Neue Stimmen" competition. She was the highest placed female singer from Germany in her category.
Sophie-Magdalena Reuter is also the recipient of the Förderpreis from the Mahler-Wettbewerb Hamburg, the Ida-Ehre-Kulturpreis, and the Hermann-Rauhe-Sonderpreis. She is a scholar of numerous important foundations. Most recently she was selected as the new scholarship holder of the Mozart Society Dortmund, and received the Sponsorship Award from the Kulturstiftung Dortmund.
Ms. Reuter’s opera highlights include Gretel in Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel,” Nora in Vaughn Williams’ "Riders to the sea,” and Papagena in Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte.”
In 2018, Sophie-Magdalena Reuter performed at the St. Pauli Theater as Zerlina in "Don Giovanni," and with the Hamburg Chamber Opera as Servilia in "La clemenza di Tito.” Ms. Reuter sang the soprano solo in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Münster with EinKlangPhilharmonie Münster. She honorably completed her studies the same year and performed Morgana in her conservatory‘s production "Alcina" by Händel.
In the summer of 2018, Sophie-Magdalena was a soloist at the J.N. Hummel-Fest in Bratislava, and sang a song recital at the Schubert Festival in Kesthely, Hungary. Later that year, Ms. Reuter appeared as soloist and moderator for New Year’s concerts with the Folkwangkammerorchester Essen.
In 2019, Sophie-Magdalena Reuter appeared as the soprano soloist in the Mozartmatinee at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, under the leadership of GMD Gabriel Feltz. Later that season, Ms.Reuter sang the title character in Rossini’s “Adina,” followed by Rosina in “Barbiere di Seviglia” with Chamber Opera Hamburg.
Sophie-Magdalena Reuter is in high demand in Germany as a concert and oratorio soloist. She has appeared with various orchestras including the Hamburger Symphoniker, Concertino Orchestra Hamburg, HansePhilharmonie Hamburg, Brandenbrurger Symphoniker, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Cappella Istropolitana, Hofer Symphoniker, Barockorchester Hamburg, Folkwangkammerorchester Essen, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, and EinKlangPhilharmonie Münster.
Since 2012, Ms. Reuter has been the proud student of Professor Carolyn Grace James.
