Sophie-Magdalena Reuter (English)
Sophie-Magdalena Reuter is a German soprano who was born and raised in Hamburg. In the current season she sings Demoiselle Franziska Cagliari from the Operetta "Vienna Blood" from J. Strauss at the Landestheater Coburg.
In season 19/20 she was ensemble member of the Theater Hof in Upper Franconia, where she sang the leading lyric-soprano roles as Euyrike in Orpheus and Eurydike by C.W. Gluck, Princess Fedora Palinska in "the circus princess" from E. Kálmán and Atala in „Vent du Soir / Häutling Abendwind“ from G. Offenbach.
To a wider audience she became known in autumn of 2017 when she reached the semi-finals in the Bertelsmann Foundation's international singing competition "Neue Stimmen" as the last female singer from Germany and singer in her subject.
Sophie-Magdalena Reuter is the recipient of the Förderpreis of the Mahler-Wettbewerb Hamburg, the Ida-Ehre-Kulturpreis and the Hermann-Rauhe-Sonderpreis. She is a scholar of numerous important foundations. Most recently she was selected as the new scholarship holder of the Mozart Society Dortmund and received the Sponsorship Award of the Kulturstiftung Dortmund.
She gained stage experience in various opera productions, for example as Gretel in Humperdinck's fairy tale opera "Hänsel und Gretel", as Nora in the opera "Riders to the sea" by V. Williams, or as Papagena in Mozart's "Magic Flute ".
In 2018 she performed at the St. Pauli Theater as Zerlina in the opera "Don Giovanni" and in the Hamburg Chamber Opera as Servilia in "La clemenza di Tito", also by W. A.Mozart. Aswell she sang the soprano solo part of Beethovens 9th Sympohny in Münster and Greven under the direction of Joachim Harder. With great success she completed her studies during the very same year, notably embodying the character of Morgana in the high school production "Alcina" by G.F. Händel.
Shortly thereafter, the soprano debuted abroad. She was in the summer of 2018 soloist of the J.N. Hummel-Fest in Bratislava, Slowakia and sang a song recital at the Schubert Festival in Kesthely, Hungary. As the soloist and moderator of the two New-Years concerts of the Folkwangkammerorchester Essen she completed the year 2018.
In the beginning of 2019 she was the soprano soloist of the Mozartmatinee in the Konzerthaus Dortmund, under the leading of GMD Gabriel Feltz. Hereupon she played the main character Adina in the opera "Adina" by G. Rossini in the Chamber Opera Hamburg. Shortly after she aswell had the great previlege to sing Rosina in a concert version of "Il Barbiere di Seviglia", also by G. Rossini, at the Chamber Opera Hamburg.
Sophie-Magdalena Reuter is highly demanded as a concert and oratorio singer and sings all over Germany. She performed with various orchestras such as the Hamburger Symphoniker, Concertino Orchestra Hamburg, HansePhilharmonie Hamburg, Brandenbrurger Symphoniker, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Cappella Istropolitana, Hofer Symphoniker, Barockorchester Hamburg, Folkwangkammerorchester Essen, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Philharmonie Südwestfalen and EinKlang Philharmonie Münster.
Since the beginning of her singing lessons, 12 years ago, she has worked with singing coach Professor Carolyn Grace James.
